Rusty and the staff at Laishley Park Marina are wonderful. The City of Punta Gorda, TERRIBLE! They are now wanting to enforce restrictions on long term liveaboards and will be soon making a large group of people HOMELESS. These people pay their rent and DO NOT damage the environment. They are local people, many of whom have local jobs and live on their vessels because the area housing is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. These people have supported this marina for years and their rent has maintained and improved this park. One lady on the City Council, (Melissa Lockhart ) was stupid enough to say " They can move their boat into the harbor and anchor it there to live" Does she think cars float and can take people from the boat to work and back? Does she think there are power and fresh water hook ups on the water? Does she not realize that that would be MORE of an environmental issue, because more pollution would occur without the use of marina facilities where the boats are docked?
