How many Drs at OPA perform total knee replacement? Upon surgery being completed, does the patient stay at the same building the surgery was performed? How advisable is it to have both knees replaced the same day?

You need to call OPA to find out that info. It's quite a procedure to endure with the recovery.

Thanks for your questions! There are currently four surgeons at OPA's Anchorage location who perform total knee replacements: Drs. Reyes, Hall, Powell, and Moore. And from OPA's Wasilla team, Drs. Drury, Anderson, and Ellison also perform total knee replacements. You can learn more about each of them on our website (OPAlaska.com). Upon completion of knee replacement surgery, the patient typically stays at the same building where the surgery was performed. Other patients, however, are able to return home on the day of their surgery. As for having both knees replaced in one day, it is sometimes possible, but its advisability depends on a number of factors, including the patient’s current health status and available personal support, among others. Anyone considering total knee replacement is welcome to call us at 562-2277 to learn the most accurate information regarding their particular circumstances.
