This is a combined customer review with husband and wife commenting. With partial three finger amputation due to a table saw accident, AOS and doctor Jason Gray did an outstanding job to restore hand function. The staff was highly professional and customer service was top notch. The office was clean and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I highly recommend this office for all your Orthopedic needs. None better. THANK YOU.

Not helpful. I was seen in November by Dr. Gray after two months of off-and-on swelling in my knee after activity (such as skiing, running, etc). There was no initial accident or trauma. After an X-ray, I was told that I had early-stage arthritis (I am 44), and that if I continue to have "episodic" swelling, I would be a candidate for steroid shots. He suggested I return when it was significantly swollen again. When I asked what could be the cause, he mentioned several complex sounding things without explanation of what those all were. I could be wrong, but I don't recall "torn meniscus" being one of them, and I think I'd remember something that simple. There may have also been mention of an MRI, but I don't recall. After 3 or 4 more weeks of mitigating this painful behavior (ice, anti-swelling drugs) to keep the swelling down, I sought a 2nd opinion at another practice. I saw a PA, and after a long listen to all my symptoms and another X-ray, he said that I likely had a meniscus tear, but only an MRI could confirm. He said these were classic symptoms of a tear, and was pretty sure it was that. I could get steroid shots to alleviate symptoms for awhile, but this would probably not solve the problem. We talked at length about the costs and benefits of MRIs vs shots, etc. So, after much thought and financial questions, I got the MRI. Sure enough, the MRI clearly showed a meniscus tear (and no arthritis). Two weeks later, they trimmed the tear surgically. Recovery was slower than expected, but after 6 weeks it's mostly back to normal, and no more swelling after activity. Other reviews here have praised the care, which I don't dispute. But it seems this diagnosis was missed. One wonders, if I had not sought a 2nd opinion... how long would I have lived with this fairly debilitating issue?

I am very grateful for my time at this practice. They worked with me on a solution to a long-standing injury, and I couldn’t be more pleased. The care and concern the whole office showed me was 100%. Dr. Grey is also a noteworthy physician, and I am grateful for his demeanor and professionalism. He did an excellent job with my surgery. I would totally recommend you go for it if you are debating whether to fix that old injury or check out that painful area. They will treat you right at this office.

I began to notice a clicking sound in my thumb joint so went to my Dr. She recommended AHES. I had an appointment with Dr Gray, who is very kind, and we scheduled surgery. I had only been in surgery one other time in my life and I am in my 70s, so I was anxious. The staff at Alaska Surgery Center were fabulous. They all made me feel so comfortable and stayed with me during the entire process. I have never met a more caring group of nurses. The surgery took only 15 minutes, was completely painless, and I could immediately bend my thumb again. I had virtually no post surgery pain and took Ibuprofen and Tylenol to sleep for 3 nights. I am so impressed with the Surgery Center, it is beautiful with a waiting area that looks like an upscale hotel. Thanks to everyone on the staff for being so very kind.

If I am on Medicare with an Anchorage School District secondary insurance, can I come to see you? I went over the angle bars on my Harley and landed on my shoulder- still hurts after three months.
