My primary care provider called over to their office 6 days ago and was quoted $125 for a non-insurance, out of pocket self pay CT Calcium Scoring Scan. I had them send over the referral today to get the scan scheduled. I was then told by the office manager that the non-insurance out of pocket cost had increased to $400 effective May 1st, and that they would not honor the previous price point. Very disappointing when medical provider profits are put before patient care...

This is an awful place to work with, they do not coordinate with your referring doctor's office and the employee's never call back. I would not trust this office with my family member's care. I would like to add that when I asked for help and a recommendation for what to do, the staff member recommended praying. I felt this was incredibly inappropriate.

Probably the very worst experience I have ever had trying to get examined by a physician at a clinic. I have pre exisiting hypertension and stents in my heart and am on medication, my primary care physician wanted me to see a specialist because he heard something he was not comfortable with during his examination of my heart and wanted so I was advised to contact this clinic =. First their phone system bounces you around to three different choices, then I got put on hold for one hour and 35 minutes after which someone picked up the phone and then hung it up before I could speak, so I dialed back, this time wait was one hour and the person answering said 'she could not find my referral' please call my doctor and have them re send the referral, I explained I have been on hold for over two hours, can she just fax my doctor or call for me because I know the referral was sent while I was at primary care. AND SHE HUNG UP. So, I went to my doctor, got a paper copy of the referral and went to Alaska heart to hand deliver it. There are many patients sitting around and me too for about 30 minutes later, I get called to the counter, the girl says, oh she can take the referral but that she cannot make an appointment because they have no way to do it, I have to use the phone system. Horrible horrible service, absolutely the worst doctors office .

I have never been a patient there. I had a meeting with some employees and they were fine. However, the 10 minutes that I sat in the lobby and waited for someone to come and get me was pretty shocking. Several elderly heart patients came to the sign in area inquiring how to make appointments. They said they had waited on the phone forever. No one ever picked up. They were referred by their own physicians to Alaska Heart Institute. Clearly frustrated and vulnerable-after all this is a heart institute. The girl behind the glass was cold and disinterested in helping them. She just repeated, YOU CANT MAKE APPOINTMENTS HERE. They all gave up and walked away. I couldn't imagine being a scared elderly heart patient and being treated so inhumanely. It was extremely sad. I pretty much lost interest in the facility that day.
