September 20th, 2018, Thursday. You can take Tazzy to the New York Avenue location of the Humane Rescue Alliance. The address is 1201 New York Avenue, N.E. It's about 1½ miles from the Noma-Gallaudet Metro Station. If you don't have a car, You'll have to take an Uber or Lyft from this station to the animal shelter. It's a long white building on the right which has stood there for at least 80 years. The staff is very friendly. The hours are Tuesday through Sunday 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. It's CLOSED on Mondays. You can take Tazzy to their other location at 71 Oglethorpe Street, N.W.. This is about 1½ miles from the Takoma Metro Station (Red Line). If you don't have a car, you'll have to take an Uber or Lyft from here as well. There's also a Medical Center here. Same hours as New York Avenue Shelter Almost 3 years ago, the Washington Humane Society and the Washington Animal Rescue League merged and became The Humane Rescue Alliance. That's why there are 2 locations. Maria Pembrook
