This is bar none the best public pool in dmv area. it needs maintenance but overall unbeatable. not for swimmers who like warm water.

I just called to get some swim team information... the young man on the other end was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you!

I’ve been a competitive swimmer & lifeguard for years. Unfortunately DC public amenities have never been of good quality and this applies to this public swimming pool. Honestly doesn’t deserve a one-star. 1. Wilson pool is always full. I tried coming on early mornings, mid-day & afterwork and 5-6 lines are always closed no matter what for different and random classes and meet ups and so called lack of staff while they literally do push ups and play group activities near the children pool. It’s intentional as enough staff walk around the pool doing nothing or are in the life guard room checking phones. 2. After work during the week is awful since besides those 5-6 closed lines, 3 ppl end up swimming in a lane which should be illegal and while you’re swimming random meet up groups show up claiming it’s their line so ppl end up waiting 10-15mins for two lanes and they don’t allow you to swim in the children’s pool. It’s a joke just wasting your time arguing with staff who have no common sense and threaten you to call police if you swim in children pool 3. Stay away from this pool as it’s too dirty with no supervise. Once I was swimming and noticed some stuff goes into my mouth went down deep and noticed there were so many used bandaids in the water, let the lifeguard know and they just came and said gross, didn’t even bother to close the lane and clean. 4. Amenities and shower are so gross and dirty full of empty bottles of shampoo and ppl’s hair clogging the shower. 5. Brought all these issues to the attention of pool’s manger and DC team and no response just heard it is what is. 6. Nothing is posted on their webpage in terms of what classes at what times are going, what lanes or how many lanes will be closed or they’ll be closed because of an event you go all the way and noticed sth on the door so call in advance. 7. As a swimmer, I tried three competition pools in Virginia (NOVA) and regret living in DC, the VA pools were so clean and well maintained. DC residents suffer with such low quality and scarce public amenities and council members. 8. Avoid this pool unless you have no option and just want to go swim, do lapses in your lunch break hoping you won’t get sick.

Great pool, family changing rooms are not in great shape, but the pool itself is worth it.

Honestly it has it days of coldness. But for the most part I have experienced the warmest waters there. There Hot Tub' is fantastic after those long swims for sure.
Should be open. Street parking outside, metered to and down the street, or zone 3/2 hours a few streets down and over.
No. The pool is closed on Federal holidays.
Outdoor pools operated by DPR are open. Wilson is closed on Federal holidays.
Open like before.
Yes the pool is open Monday through Saturday. You have to make a reservation online in order to reserve a lane for yourself.
Don't know now, with all of this covid 19 going on. And yes it's a pretty good metered pool.
Pool is Closed Now
I believe it is open for lap swimming ... it is very frustrating getting any info as their phone never gets answered. I also visited last week after checking open status on their website and the doors were chained and locked when I got there at 4. Good luck!
I am almost certain it does.
Yes and yes
Pool is open (Jan 16). May have opened earlier this week.
I don't think they follow OPM, but I am not 100% sure.
Yep!
Today the swimming pool is closed for scheduled meeting
Is closed today, due Memorial day. On normal weekends closed at 5
It wasn't Saturday not sure about Sunday
Megan, great question. Best answered by the DPS at Wilson Center. Since I swim in the mornings between 8-11:30, the lanes are changed on alternate days (MWF) long (50m) and (TTh) 25m. The lanes are labeled (slow, med, fast). Lanes are open for all levels and abilities. Age requirements may apply, over 16? (Unaccompanied). Enjoy!
This is my personal opinion;. The earlier the better and including a continued exposure to swimming is a positive habit which will carry-through life. I believe the Wilson Aquatic Center Does Not offer swim lessons? Call them or search the DPS website.
Its open every day
Open Saturdays and Sundays
