I’m a foster for the HRA and I’ve never encountered a shelter that cares more for their pets and makes the adoption process that seamless. All the animals I’ve fostered have been in great health, received phenomenal care, and had a wealth of resources to help them live their best lives.

Adopted the most perfect and adorable poodle-mix from here. They had taken him in as a stray, cared for him, and made sure he had all his shots. When we met him, the staff were energetic, accommodating so that we could meet him in person (despite the pandemic) before welcoming him into our family. They helped to get him fixed, instructed us on feeding him, and were as excited to find him a home as we were to give one. They care about every animal as much as their future owners do.

Doing great work for animals! We foster for them and love being able to help animals find furever homes.

Look who I picked up at the adoption place. His name was Angel. Now he is called Bumba. He is 3 and a great companion. The process was easy and I really enjoyed the experience.

September 20th, 2018, Thursday. You can take Tazzy to the New York Avenue location of the Humane Rescue Alliance. The address is 1201 New York Avenue, N.E. It's about 1½ miles from the Noma-Gallaudet Metro Station. If you don't have a car, You'll have to take an Uber or Lyft from this station to the animal shelter. It's a long white building on the right which has stood there for at least 80 years. The staff is very friendly. The hours are Tuesday through Sunday 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. It's CLOSED on Mondays. You can take Tazzy to their other location at 71 Oglethorpe Street, N.W.. This is about 1½ miles from the Takoma Metro Station (Red Line). If you don't have a car, you'll have to take an Uber or Lyft from here as well. There's also a Medical Center here. Same hours as New York Avenue Shelter Almost 3 years ago, the Washington Humane Society and the Washington Animal Rescue League merged and became The Humane Rescue Alliance. That's why there are 2 locations. Maria Pembrook

We are incredibly sorry and understand making the decision to end a pet's life is the hardest a pet parent will ever face. If we find together that it's the right time to pursue humane euthanasia, then HRA offers that service free of charge. Please contact us at 202-576-6664 for more information.
Due to unforeseen staffing concerns, the Medical Center will not be offering veterinary or surgical appointments in September and October.
Please contact HRA's Medical Center directly. Contact information is available online at humanerescuealliance.org/medical-center.

Yes. You can register your interest on their website, then register and go to the regularly scheduled 1 hour intro course, then start volunteering right after that
Up-to-date information can be found online at www.humanerescuealliance.org/vaccination-clinic.
Both
I have never heard them do any promotions about vaccines for exotic animals, but if there are vaccines for those type of animals they obviously would do them there because they take them in and rescue them so they know that people have them, and if there is something that needs to be done they would do it. You should call them up and find out how much they charge to vaccinate your pets. They have turtles in their own little enclave on display in the front of the building when you come in.
depends on who you are, where you found it, whether they have space, expertise in that dog's problems. call ahead.
Yes, you can make an appointment at our New York Avenue location by calling 202-576-6664. Thank you.

You can find the hours of our vaccination clinic on our website. humanerescuealliance.org/vaccine-clinic
Email addresses are available on HRA's contact us page online.
They sometimes have bunnies, but you should check their website under "adoption - other" to see if there are any, and at which location. I don't know how often they have baby bunnies vs. adults.
The Humane Rescue Alliance offers weekly, low-cost vaccination clinics in which you do not need an appointment. Appointments are needed for medical exams through HRA's Medical Center. Additional information on vaccination clinic times and HRA's Medical Center is available online.
only if you're 65 years and older and if the dog is more than 5 years old

HRA's Medical Center does not offer veterinary services to exotic animals for public clients. However, our reception staff would be happy to offer suggestions for vets in the area who do.
We do have a full service medical center and provide low-cost veterinary care to the community. Our veterinarians are happy to work with clients to suggest a specialist if needed.
I'm not sure. They do have a volunteer program but you'd have to contact them for the particulars.
Please bring a valid form of photo ID to your adoption counseling session.

Call for information and to set appointment. Costs ran higher than I was led to believe.
If it's a feral cat the protocol is trap-neuter-return.
Dont be hasty. There could be a medical reason. Behavioral modification is an option. Lastly, a rescue. Never put down until you have exhausted resources.
If you're on disability Social Security or retirement or get food stamps they will remove the growth but if you're not I don't think that they would do it it's a clinic in Laurel I don't know the name of it right now but they're pretty reasonable I had two more taking off my dog's eyes and it was only $300 plus I got medicine and everything where someone else wanted like $800 I'm sorry I don't remember the name but just look up Laurel veterinarians
This place does not offer cats for free.
Yes they do. They accept any animals and will route them appropriately.
