All the Apartment Complexes in the South Tampa Florida Area are raising Rent Prices to outrageous Pricing. At Lighthouse Bay the Studio Apartments run for at least $740 a month, 1 bedrooms run for over $800 a month, and 2 bedrooms run for $1000 a month. I am not sure of the exact prices but this was what I was told when I renewed my lease last time. The apartment complex raises rent $30 every time someone renewes a lease here.
At most income restricted communities, each year HUD releases something having to do with market rent. If other apartments are raising their rent, income restricted places will be informed of an increase in what they should charge for rent. I live in St Pete and my rent was increased by 28% last year. Other nearby apartment complexes charge at least $2500/mo for a similar sized apartment that I live in. The other side is that some years the rent goes down. I've been in my community for 8 years now and last year was the most my rent has ever increased. I just had to remind myself that at least I'm not paying over $2k/mo for a 3 bedroom! Maybe look into buying a home through Habitat for Humanity?
