I used my AAA discount to reserve the room and gave my credit card at check in.

I used a timeshare week. A 100.00 deposit was taken when we chk in and released when we chkd out
They charge me 1 nights rate to hold the reservation immediately and the rest the day of the check in
Perhaps a small deposit, not charged in full until checkin. Lib the Barclay.
