May 2021 I realize this post was from 3 years ago.. for info purposes. When you enter this National Park, check out the enormous map of Joshua Tree, trails, campgrounds are marked. *Hidden Valley is only 1 if the areas here to explore ! Do enter the Visitors Center at the entrance. Talk with a (friendly) Park Ranger to learn at any time of the year which areas may be closed, whether its Rock Climbing spots, camping area or hiking trails. *There Are 2 entrances to Joshua Tree. 1 on the East & 1 on the west side. Check a couple hours before arriving so you know if there's any extensive waiit time to enter. *Bring a Hat. And Water -plenty of it. Picnic Food too as No Food is sold here! Best of all, relax and enjoy.
It's never closed. There is no gate to close the trail.
Usually it is always open but the National Park my be closed due to government shutdown.
