This was an easy and fun hike. It was our first hike in Joshua tree National Park. The kids loved exploring and climbing rocks.

Make this the last spot of the day. As the sun sets, the rock cliffs burn orange fire! With shadows on the other parts, it makes for an amazing experience - not to mention some beautiful pictures. The trail is easy, about a mile. You'll see lots of rock climbers tackling different surfaces, it is fun to live through them. π

This trail was ok. Itβs a very popular and congested trail which narrow passages cause bottlenecking issues the whole way. It does have some good views, however I feel some if the other trails offer similar scenery with less traffic. The trail has some spectacular bouldering opportunities such as the great burrito and other notable clusters to check out.

Plenty of toilet paper!!! We got here early after turning away due to crowds the day before. Nice quick early morning hike with great light and fun views of rock climbers. As with every spot in the park, this gets filled up and parking becomes very difficult. We took the opposite direction on the loop and it was nice having folks pass us in the opposite direction rather than following or being followed.

Yes your dogs are very welcome here, on their leash. Note: Dogs are Not Allowed on any Trails. It is Against the Law to leave your dog - or any child- in your car, unattended. Park Rangers always monitor vehicles for the health of any child or pet left in a vehicle. In summer, carry water.
You can probably take the scooter on the roads of is street legal and licenced. You can not take it on the hiking trails period.
May 2021 I realize this post was from 3 years ago.. for info purposes. When you enter this National Park, check out the enormous map of Joshua Tree, trails, campgrounds are marked. *Hidden Valley is only 1 if the areas here to explore ! Do enter the Visitors Center at the entrance. Talk with a (friendly) Park Ranger to learn at any time of the year which areas may be closed, whether its Rock Climbing spots, camping area or hiking trails. *There Are 2 entrances to Joshua Tree. 1 on the East & 1 on the west side. Check a couple hours before arriving so you know if there's any extensive waiit time to enter. *Bring a Hat. And Water -plenty of it. Picnic Food too as No Food is sold here! Best of all, relax and enjoy.
