Took a friend from out of state to see it. Even in the day time it was nice.

Unfortunately it was closed when I made it up there that it was still beautiful.

Interesting area to walk around. The grounds and sculptures are very nice. No one was there and there wasn’t much info on the Orrery or other structures there. Good place to see the stars at night.

Awesome, and truly one of a kind real time presentations of images of deep sky objects photographed through 14 inch Celestron’s. Somebody should write up their contributions to public knowledge and to science. Awesome job Allen, Autumn, Valerie , Darrell and Brandall. Free!!! Can’t believe these senior citizens put this on purely for the public benefit. They take home nothing but the good wishes of their guests.

Is there a telescope available for people to use?

Hi Joon. No telescope is available at this time. Our free public programs are on the Saturday nights nearest the new moon. At that time we have telescopes out for people to look through. Tonight is full moon -- the sky will be very bright and not many objects will be visible.

I am disabled but can walk with a cane and I have an electric scooter. Are there trails I can access in the park?

Cosmo has answered quite accurately: STL has 5 concrete accessible parking spots which connect to extensive concrete walkways that provide access to telescopes, the observatory dome, and accessible restrooms. The Nature Trail of native plants, however, is not paved, although the surface is pretty firm and probably will accommodate your electric scooter. Just to be clear: STL is an all volunteer nonprofit organization that is completely separate and outside of Joshua Tree National Park.
