Depends on if their lightning sensors trip. They're pretty sensitive, a few miles difference is all it takes to be out of sync with other parks.
Different parks different policies
Maybe the safety reasons
Only if it's lightning
Ask for a refund or something to make you happier
Parks actively track storms/lightning for 25+ miles, but don't have you get out of the water or seek shelter unless there is a strike within much fewer miles. Disney, Universal and, SeaWorld/Aquatica may have different standards, but they all try to keep you safe, even if you don't want to be. Just like some parents have different rules for their kids and kids say "But so-and-so gets to play in the thunderstorms. Why can't I?". My son was playing a soccer championship game in a thunderstorm and coaches/refs would not call the game, but parents pulled their kids off field when hair was reacting/standing up before lightning strikes. If other parks let you get struck by lightning with lower standards, it is your choice to go there instead. Parks like parents take the complaints "it's not fair"... often like over protective parents. I was in a park when FIRST unpredictable triple strike hit. I was 50 ft from a hit speaker and life guards/guest in water. 5 went to hospital but all OK.
Ya, I'm not sure what the difference is. Each of the water parks have different tolerance levels it seems
