You write to them, and pray. Hard... If the reason why you were imprisoned was due to a Felony, don't even bother. Once you get a Felony, you lose any and all rights that you had to get Social Security.

Show your release paperwork at the local Social Security. If your case hasn't been terminated, your benefits can be restarted. Otherwise you will need to reapply.
