I purchased tickets for an event at the Capitol theater, i am giving them as a gift. If i mark out the price printed on the ticket will it void the ticket ?

Can't be 100% sure, but that crossout voiding the ticket is highly unlikely.

No they just scan barcode

As long as the barcode on the ticket is visible, you can black out the price. The ushers need the seat numbers and barcodes for verification of the ticket.
