First mission destroyed by flood, around 1793, which was on the river below the current location. Second mission moved to hill was destroyed by earthquake in 1840 to 1857, was already in disrepair.

That sounds correct... what you see now was rebuilt in the 20's and 30's the main person who paid for it is laid to rest in the rear corner of the church. Her son was put to rest there too. Many of the missions were rebuilt. They were abandoned or neglected in the mid to late 1800's.
