Is this a place you could safely hike alone with a dog? I am coming for some respite but will be alone.

When we went there were a couple of people walking alone. I was also there when somebody spotted a copperhead but we didn't see it. Personally I will do it

Yes.

During our visit copperheads were sighted along the trail

Yes it is a very safe area and my daughter and i take our dog when we go with no concerns.

We only saw a few other people but this was during a weekday. I suspect weekends would be much busier. Safety wise it is a bit remote but you're probably going to have a couple of other hikers around. We had our dog and passed two other hikers with dogs.

We were the only ones, other than a few squirrels and chipmunks. It was very peaceful and we felt safe.
