It depends on whether the toilet is a conventional residential toilet or a commercial toilet with a Flushometer flushing system. For conventional residential toilets, we would begin by opening the tank lid and repeatedly flushing the toilet while watching to make sure the flush valve, flapper valve and fill valve are operating properly. Most likely, one or more of these tank parts needs and adjustment or is failing. If it’s a commercial-grade Flushometer system, we would inspect it, test it and determine whether an adjustment will fix the problem or if a rebuild is necessary.
