Yes they are, if u got an animal for free & took it to the vet to get it neutered/ spayed and all it's shots it would cost you close to $500- $600. Depending on what kind of animal. So when you look at it that way it not expensive. The cost also feeds, gives medical care & shelter to all the animals in the shelter.
It's way cheaper to adopt just to spay a dog or cat cost over a hundred bucks depending on Male or female also
It's actually cheaper to to go through the adoption than to go to a vet. Research it and see.. And you would actually be saving a life.
