I was admitted to the hospital and while i was sleeping the nurse searched my bags. Are they allowed to do this without my consent?

If you were sleeping how do u know the nurse went through your belongings? Patients have been known to OD, commit suicide, had adverse reactions to mixing their own meds with new meds started during the admission, assault staff, etc.. So yes they do have the right to search your belongings though they prefer to do it with the patient's consent and cooperation.
