If the dog is available for adoption you take it home that same day.
And if the dog has been spayed or neutered
If this is Palmdale shelter, the dogs on the adoptable side of the shelter must be spayed or neutered before they go home. You pick up next day. I think "most" have already had the procedure done that I've seen. If they are in the medical area, you can take home same day if NOT spay or neutered, but you will need to sign a 90 waiver that you will get them fixed and show proof. I adopted 2 dogs last month, both in medical, both not fixed. Took both home same day. The shelter didn't want to fix them due to their medical condition. They wanted me to bring them to my vet to make sure they were suitable to have surgery, which they were.
