I would like to visit the painted canyo with friends for sightseeing and photos but we are Floridians on a rental car with no hiking experience. Is there a visitor center, trail map or any helpful info so can explore without a tour guide? Thanks

I did see some regular cars in the parking area, so you should be fine as long as the roads aren't muddy. You're chances are good since we don't get much rain here. Have fun!

Don't worry. It's super easy. Rent a car GPS it and it will take you all the way to the parking. The walk is easy. Climbing the ladders is easy too.

No visitor center and i think no cell service in that area. The canyon is obvious on the side of the parking lot so it is easy to find. Have a printed map or an image map on a smartphone to get oriented, since there are very few trail markings.

Remember to take the Mecca city box canyon road. The box canyon road from the Hwy 10 is closed by Joshua National Park.
