In December park closed at 5 PM. We left after sunset around 5:45 with many cars still on the parking lot. Entrance gate was closed but exit was opened. If you stay longer than park rangers will ask you to leave
I would get there earlier so that you have time to plan your shots
The park closes at 5:45PM, but usually right after sunset they allow time for people to leave.
