I went to see the canals last Thursday, it was low tide, but the water was extremely low! Is something going on to cause this?

The canals have a lock system on Washington Blvd. The city drains the canals usually on Monday and refills them usually on Friday to help clean them and keep the allgie levels low.

Yes it's all about the tides. Last week was a full moon, which causes a larger tide. In addition, it depends on the time of year. We have larger tides in the winter/spring.

I noticed when walking on the beach near the Marina the tide was very low. Also, sometimes the city let's water out of the canals.

No they just get super low in low tide. They're not the deepest canals so they may look somewhat low even when it's high tide
