Can you eat the fish from the lake?

no you can't, its unhealthy because the water its contaminated with pollutants and chemicals

My family fishes their all the time and has for many many many years and they have always eaten the fish with no issues.....

I'm not sure about that, it might not be safe, there are some signs that advice.
