Normally, as everyone else has said, there's no need for a reservation. But once, around Christmas, we were turned away because the lot was full, and now we always make a reservation (sometimes just on the way there) -- just one less thing to worry about going wrong.
I have parked there for years and never made a reservation. However, I don't fly over Thanksgiving and Christmas. I could see why it would be a good idea to make a reservation during those times.
It helps to reserve. Usually available even close to long weekend. Value for money.
