I would say minimum 8 hours. Probably closer to 12 with the tour plus seeing almost all the attractions.
Whole day , that also if u visit early ... I recommend take express pass if u visit on a weekend / holiday

Universal is half shows half rides. So it depends on how many shows you want to see.
On a weekend it will take whole day and week days its pretty cool. But suggest nothing less than 5 - 6 hours if you really need to enjoy.
I would plan the whole day. I really depends on the length of the lines and which attractions you want to see. Even with short lines there are lots of shows to see.
We were there for 5 hours and rode everything at least once. We were there Thursday.
