Does anyone know the origin & history of the now dry riverbed with the stone retaining walls @ Sylvan Park in No. REDLANDS on University Ave? I would like to know what significance it has & why it has been allowed to dry up? 🧐

Thanks M. S., I really appreciated your taking the time to let me know that. 🙂 It was my very first visit to this park & it seemed oddly out of place to me, seeing such long lasting stone workmanship in the middle of the park & thinking sadly, (to quote you) how truly "ingenious" the Engineering Feat, that went into building this project, only to let it go dry & therein leave a lingering question; "Do the City Managers or 'anybody', really care about keeping this park in better conditions?" To be perfectly honest, I was so highly impressed by the number of amenities the park offers that I did a small amount of research & wrote a sterling review of it, on Google Maps! Maybe the City Mgrs should read.

I believe it is the Zanja RIver that was built in 1819 by ingenious peoples. Also I believe that it has all but dried up because the of the city's flood control engineering.
