There are several paths to the hot springs. Bowen ranch if you want to park and pay. Right before Bowen ranch there's a BLM trail called freedom trail that you can leave from and park there it's free but you need a vehicle with Clarence you can get back there on a two-wheel drive if you have clearance. There's also goat trail which is just beyond Bowen ranch. You can also access the Pacific Crest trail via big Bear or you can access it from Arrowhead lake Road in Hesperia. Hesperia route you can park on the side of the road it's a little bit longer but it's not as steep going out. Bowen ranch is definitely not your only option even though the hiking apps always tell you to park at Bowen ranch.
