Hello Mr. Decker, it's not a terribly difficult process to put a lien on property. However, you have to file a lawsuit to enforce the lien in many situations. I am a local attorney and have experience with filing and enforcing liens.
it's a simple form filed within 120 days of the last date you provided materials or service to the site. There is a filing fee.
