Some are willing to help, but on the other hand they just sit around gossiping instead of helping the homeless.
I been in this shelter until now is almost 2 month. But I never have a caseworker yet. I ask one staffing work in this shelter, she's said we do not have a caseworker of here. Because I believe where shelter was it's, they always have a caseworker to help a homeless. But not me. It's wear. This reason is make me upsad. But I have no choice, cause I need place to stay.
There are people there that will talk to you and listen to you. They can help you with your search for housing. You have to take the initiative. There are too many homeless people in this city, and not enough resources. So you have to tell and show them you are doing your part. If they see you work, are responsible, and follow up on things you are more likely to get results than someone who has an attitude of: ' Hey, I'm here, where's my apartment?' Work with them, try to find a housing specialist or counselor you can develop a rapport with, and be persistent. And understand they are swamped with caseloads. Show them you appreciate the help, and do your part, follow the rules, and you'll have a better chance than someone that thinks they are entitled to housing because they can fog a mirror. It's like anything else, you get out what you put in. Here are three words that will help you immensely- Please, thank you, and excuse me. Good luck.
I don't think they do what they should. They are short staffed which in turn makes it difficult on us homeless. They say they faxed this app and that so when on truth you go to the Bldg and Manager had no clue who you are or why you're there. That upsets me immensely.
