I know it’s a dump, but if I happened to see something I wanted to salvage is that possible? Or is it like a giant hole where I’d die?

There are hugh bulldozers that take the waste and immediately begin to spread it out and compact it. Jake is correct, it gets buried fairly quickly and every night they spread clean fill dirt out over the top of the area that they worked/dumped on that day. They would not let you go wandering around, with all the bulldozers, it would be dangerous and a liability.

You're unlikely to see anything, because everything gets buried pretty regularly. It's not the kind of dump where you'd have the ability (or permission) to browse it. If you happened to see someone tossing something you wanted from a neighboring truck or something, I'm sure you could ask for it.
