Many thanks for your response. I do indeed Mr Davidson appreciate your comments therein. The regimental tie to which I refer was my father's namely the 3 County London Yeomanry (sharpshooters). For me the prospect of dining out without a formal shirt and tie is unthinkable.
Well, not all regiments are equal. And i have never dined there for dinner. But i can assure you that i would not wear a tie or suit...
