So you've had a dog for 10 years and you're just going to give it away? You made a commitment to her 10 years ago. Just like you made a commitment to your teenagers when you decided to have them. Dogs aren't disposable. Way to teach your kids that when its inconvenient for you, you can just throw it away. Way to set them up for success. When your parents are older and it takes more work to take care of them, what will you do? How about....give away your teenagers. She was there first. Mrs. Roussos, In an article I just read it says: "I just feel like teenagers today need to appreciate elderly people much more," said Roussos, "To see these elderly people in Benaco bonding with these teenagers, it was so touching. The only thing they had a lot of is love, and I want my children to experience that." I'm left both speechless and disgusted.....
This is a public forum answered by the community not a direct line to the nhspca... But you should know that placing older dogs is more difficult I'm sure Sally would rather stay with her family that she has known for the last decade and get less attention than be uprooted.
You want to put a senior dog that has been living (I assume) well in your home and hope she's going to be picked over puppies? Best of luck.
Frankly as heart breaking as it is for that poor lovely dog, I don't want those people to keep her. They don't deserve her. I hope they put that couple on a no adoption list for future reference.
If I am not mistaken the NHSPCA will allow you to bring her in and they will find a home for her. I would call them to verify but I am pretty sure that is their policy
