I don't believe so. It's mainly a place discussing the life sciences, geology, and other branches of science that discuss Earth as a whole. It's like a zoo that describes things in a lot more depth. Regardless, it's a fun place to be, and I'm sure you'll find something you'll enjoy.
The exhibits on minerals comes closest but everything is chemistry.
They were doing a kids chemistry demonstration when I went. Probably wouldn't be of much interest to your grandpa.
It is an excellent place. You can not miss it!
