Your vehicle has a maintenance minder system. There is various checks and balances that the car will go through based on mileage and the way you drive the car. So you can just wait until the car tells you when to have the oil changed. Some people are more traditional and they have their own system on when to change the oil based on mileage just to be on the safe side. But now with the high viscosity oils your car can go longer without changing the oil. Some people want to change their cars oil every 3000, 5000, and it varies.

Your car should let you know. When it is at 10% oil. It varies about the mileage what your mileage when that occurs. The typical is 5000-7000 miles.

You should have a maintenance reminder to tell you when its due. 3000 miles is a waste. Most modern cars go 7000 before an oil change
