Research permits in la county. I believe as long as there is no tripod and no fixed lights, you're good. I have also seen student films shot here. Keep your crew small, ask for forgiveness not permission. Be kind to people and they won't complain, there's no film police actively looking for students without a permit. Good luck with your project

I have seen a mother and her two children making a video but not sure if they had permits but there seem to be no problem.

Several people have filmed there. Keep crew small and you should be fine.
