Call animal control

Seminole County has a pet leash law. ANY PET must remain on the the owner’s private property or be on leash to be considered under control. There are no exceptions for any pet type and it is NOT a dog only leash law. The fact that the property owner feeds the cats makes them pets and subject to the law requiring associated licenses/vaccinations. If not fed and cared for the cats become feral and a danger to the community; to both human and domestic pets. Animal control can help with animal identification and license checks. Any animal not properly licensed, vaccinated, and maintained under control will be removed. The owner may choose to update all requirements to reclaim their pet or leave the animal unclaimed for disposition in accordance with county policies in effect.

There is NO leash law for cats in Seminole County. I wish this rumor would stop. They are allowed off your property with permission. There NEVER was a leash law for cats in Seminole. I spoke to a former animal control manager years ago, Mike Wittmer R.I.P. and asked him to show me the leash law because there isn't one. He admitted I was correct.

If you don't have a problem doing it, go to Amimal Control, they give you a cage. Put some food in it set it. You'll have cats. Call them. They will pick up the cat and leave you a new cage. Just keep doing it till they are gone. I wouldn't call on any neighbors cats. Just giving you an fyi. Good luck

Have you tried letting your neighbor know of your allergic reactions to the cats they are feeding?

Stephen MacKenzie | Aug 21, 2019

If someone has cats and they are invading your property allergies are far from the issue. Seems they need to learn about spay and neutering.

Lyra Beke | Aug 20, 2021

Cats are not a danger to a community. They naturally regulate pest populations. Humans are the only real danger to cats. Have a little appreciation, we would have been wiped out by the plague had cats not eaten the rats that spread the disease

How about talk to your neighbor first.

Tim Maulden | Aug 20, 2020

Are the cats actually the property of the neighbors or are they feral cats which the neighbors feed ? There's a big difference. If the cats are your neighbor's pets, ask the neighbor to implement some form of discouragement plan to keep the cats away. There are spray products that discourage cats from coming on the property available at most pet stores. Ask the neighbor to treat on a regular basis. Keep in touch when any issues arise. Communication goes a long way to keep you and your neighbors in good stead and on the same page.

Call the humane society &see what they say what's going on..

Carole Coleman | Aug 21, 2018

You can call or go to their website to register a complaint and they will make contact with the owners to let them know that cats can not run loose off the owners property and request the owner to confine them. Cat traps are also available for use if needed.
