Ask Google Maps for Golden Gate bridge point of view and pick the one at the north of the bridge (the top one on the map). You will have a nice view on the bridge and the city. You could drive further north to John Muir park then, and meet with the redwoods. If you don't havr a car , there is a city bus (MUNI) which goes to this north point of view!
