What kind of service was the dog supposedly trained for? Our Lab and Havanese are both trained to detect high and low blood sugar levels. A huge part of training is mainly the owners knowing to continue and be consistent with commands. Dogs also need breaks from working to be dogs. I was trained 25 years ago by amazing women that trained police dogs and drilled this information. God bless them!!! After about $3,000 in training for our dog back then, we have trained over 20 dogs as a favor for some of my patient’s dogs, friends, and rescued dogs. In our own dogs all 6 throughout those years were trained and it works so long you continue to practice. Doesn’t work if you just pay and expect to have the outcome without continuing what they learned. Those $3,000 we paid was returned 100 fold. ❤️ If they didn’t give you the time to teach you, definitely go back and have them give you that. Good luck
Thank you for your answer. I have PTSD and TBI. He was supposed to be trained for that. My last dog was amazing. I know the commands and do them. My issue is the shock collar that they trained him with. He is intelligent enough to know when it is on and will behave then. Not exactly a service dog. I think the training was wrong. I'm going to give them another chance in a couple weeks. I hope they do better. Thanks again for your response! Maybe you should train us.
Hey Adam I had the same issue with my dog went in for obedience training. At Snug they made it seem like it was my fault for not being able to carry out the training at home but even though I did my dog's behavioral issues were still present. The shock collar use (that I did not know they were using to train my dog) made him more nervous.
