The process for adopting a pet starts with a walk thru so you can see which animals are available. You are not allowed to touch but you can try to talk and interact with the pets. Once you find a pet or some pets that appeal to you, you go to the front desk and let them know which animals you want more info on. The person at front deak goes over all their records with you from medical history to behavior and health. If they have been in a foster home then their foster home habits and actions are also included. Once you choose which animals you might consider you are then taken to interact with them to see if it is a good fit.i suggest you bring the children with you to interact as well and see how things feel.
The staff is very good with suggestions. They know the animals and can usually advise information about any pet you are interested in.
I'm only a volunteer at Best Friends, so you would be better off speaking to a staff member on the dog team. 😊
