There is wildlife rattlesnake's spiders, Fox, deer, raccoon, possum, not such a good idea to take small pets... they could be part of food chain. But if you watch the trail while you hike you should be ok.

I have seen a rattlesnake once on the trail. Not common, if you are hiking it should be obvious there is a snake on the trail. Just give it wide berth, you will be fine.
