Soft (new) shell are less expensive than hard shell lobsters but you get less meat out of them. I usually prefer to pay the extra for the hard shell. Plus, the meat is less watery IMHO...

Depends on what you want. Live in shell is based on size. You are paying for more shell than meat. Clear lobster meat seems high on price but 1 lb is equal to meat of 5 lobsters. Each live lobster has 3-4 oz meat I prefer not dealing with shells so go with the clear meat.
