I saw a CSR refuse to sell cigarettes to a 20 year old in Maine. They've obviously haven't been trained correctly. The new law has a grandfather clause where if you turned 18 prior to July 1st, 2018 you are grandfathered and can purchase cigarettes.

Walmart may have a policy set in place that you have to be 21 no matter what. I know in Portland you have to be 21 no matter weather your grandfathered in or not.

Walmart's been using door greeters for cashiers for at least ten years. Maintenance crew too. That's got nothing to do with it.

Well maybe they didn't meet the criteria set forth. So unless you know the whole story you shouldn't question the situation.
