I turn 66 at the end of March and want to begin collecting Social Security then. Well, April or whenever I can. What must I do to get this process rolling?

You can start collecting SSB early retirement at 62. Of course there's a reduction on the benefit. 70 is when you can get the maximum benefit. SSA link: https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-01897

I"m sorry but your information is wrong 66 is when you can start receiving SS. I just turned 66 and signed up no problem. The longer you wait the more the amount increases but you can take it at 65 if you're willing to take a 20% cut in the total. Do your research and don't rely on others for answers. You an type things like this into a Google search. "how old do you have to be to collect social security" and find all the information you need and more. Good Luck!
