Yes, lots of dogs have died on the trail, so be careful. If your dog overheats, give it plenty of water and pour water onto its armpits to help cool it down. If the ground is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog

Yes, dogs are allowed. Also be aware of rattle snakes during summer times. You can hear them while on the trail, though I've never seen one.

Yes,dogs are allowed. I typically take mine at 6 am. So that way it gives less of chance for my pup overheat

Yes, although there is a lot of signage warning about taking dogs on hot days or without enough water. You can receive citation for ignoring warning signs.
