It is man made it has been there a long time
The lake is absolutely real!... and one of the resons Mama Ghio built here in the early 60's.
The lake is a natural spring fed lake, not man made. There is no water pumped in, although fountains, water circulators and a dam have been added so that it could be landscaped for a business to exist there. There are fish in the lake as big as an arm and ducks, American Coots and even a Blue Heron that call the lake home. The entire property is like a wild life preserve with little interference from the humans that work there. This is an extremely historical property and the lake once was a part of the water supply "flue" that supplied water to Old Town when it was the downtown of San Diego.
Anthony's has been at the La Mesa location for as long as I can remember and the pond has always been a part of it.
Man made. Nice outside dining.
According to my sister it used to be a place where you could pay to go fishing. Then I guess Anthony's bought it and Incorporated the lake into their design.
It fills from the restaurant so it's probably man made.
That is a good question. It started from something! It has been there since I've gone there 25 years! I sure love it no matter what and so do the ducks!!
