Heartworm is treatable. My current dog had heartworm when I got him and he's perfect now. He's been great for 3 years. Some rescues can help with the cost of treatment, so don't let heartworm deter you from saving a life!

Read each dog's history. When we were there quite a few of the dogs had heart worm problems.
