After purchasing and bringing home from the store I froze the oysters...they expanded and popped the lid off, causing them to stick up out of the container about 1/2 inch. Are they still safe to eat after thawing? (& steaming them)

I wouldn't eat them.

We don't recommend freezing oysters in a jar, however, they would still be safe to eat after freezing. The reason the lid popped off is the water in the jar expanded when they were frozen, there is no food safety issue.
