Dead man's Cove from my understanding has alway been closed to the public. It is part of the Coadt3 Guard Base that's there. I don't think this is a very enforced rule. There is a lot to do in the area. A lot to learn. Beautiful photography and scenery. Well worth the drive.
Worst case is probably you get asked to leave. The whole cape disappointment area is beautiful, I wouldn't consider it a waste of time at all.
When I was there a month ago there were No Trespassing signs up and they didn't look new. There were also a few people down at the cove. A local told me to look for the signs, then take the path down.
So, why do they put them up? I'm just wondering if I can even go down without getting in trouble. It's a 3hrs drive for me to get here; I dont want to waste my time.
